Day 438: Oh no, injury

Mr Nora's just rushed in and told me there's blood in the run. It turns out, Gabrielle (green egg layer) has a cut (bite?) on her comb and a little blood is running down her face, making her flick her head and spread the blood. We opened the Cube - it's the first night they've all got in there themselves (well, it's cold out!) and lo and behold, Xena (yup, Gabrielle's best mate) was pecking her comb! It's not that Xena's hen-pecking her - rather, it's simply that chicken's can't resist blood.

So Mr Nora brought her in whilst I wiped up the blood. She's with him now, she's in a cat basket in the bathroom, having her comb bathed. And then he'll spray Gentian Violet on her - an antisceptic/anti-peck liquid. She's perfectly calm - it's me'n'him who were in bit of a flap! Oh no, I've just heard the latest news - purple spray EVERYWHERE in our white and pale yellow bathroom! 9 days before we move - and GV doesn't wash out. YIKES. Apparently she's perched on the bath, loo, top of the cat basket. She's very perky - and flappy so she seems happy in herself :o)

Will report back on her progress tomorrow but, right now, they're all asleep and all is quiet on the Western Front :o)
