Day 544: 1600 eggs and counting!

I can't believe that we've had the girls a year and a half already... AND that we've had 1,600 eggs!

So what news? It's raining and the girls are in their run. They have lots of space, a dust bath and perches so I don't think it bothers them, as they have all they need to express proper chickeny behaviour. They even have treats of corn and porridge (just their pellets mixed up with warm water - they love it!).

We've been in the new house for 3 months now and we've noticed that the feed in the garage is getting damp. The feed is supplied in a sack made of layers of paper... but the garage is damp. To be fair, we were warned it would be when we moved in, as it's newly built but not heated like the house, which is drying out nicely. Even in the house, we've been warned not to wallpaper or floor the loft for at least a year, whilst it dries out!

So what do we do about the feed. Were looking for a large bin with a sealing lid to store it and try to keep it dry... but it's a long search. The best thing we've come across so far is a brewing bucket (for making beer) but we're not convinced that it will seal well. So the search continues...
