Day 572: Cleaning and neighbours

I had bit of a pants day at work today so the chickens are always my first port of call. I couldn't wait to get home, let them out in the sunshine and get to work, pottering around. Within half an hour, I'd scraped up all the flooring and disinfected the run. It was lovely in the garden in the sunshine - but no, the girls wanted to help me! As fast as I was shovelling little piles of used flooring, they were diving on it and scratching it all out again. I got there in the end, by scattering corn in the garden. They just can't resist food! Eventually, they figured out it was sunny and spent some time contentedly dustbathing, chatting to each other quietly, such a lovely sound!

They've been laying well and are clearly settled in their new home. Roxy still has her mini moult going on (a bald neck), Sophia has malteser toes again (so I'm soaking those every evening until the maltesers either drop off or disolve), Tallulah is happy and content in her well-earned retirement, Xena is chatty as ever, Angelina is as naughty as ever and Gabrielle is getting really confident and Roxy is finally letting her hang out with them in peace :o)

We've been handing out eggs and the neighbours are loving them! I was concerned that the girls were being noisy but the neighbours one side say they sleep at the front and the other said she's hardly ever heard them and then invited herself round to meet them in person LOL :o)
